The Tastiest One

by decembrist

Rated PG-13 for swearing. I just cannot keep Dean's language clean.

Summary: Answer to the challenge 'Sam and/or Dean get day jobs'. Dean knows what his strengths are, and he's pretty sure they don't include dressing up like a stick of processed meat.

Love and Communication

By decembrist

Rated PG-13 for language and a bit of blood.

Disclaimer: Anything involving Supernatural does not belong to me. Even the title of this fic doesn’t belong to me. I stole it from a lovely Cat Power song. The song actually has nothing to do with the story - I just liked the title.

Summary: “Your dad? He’s in here with me, trapped inside his own meat suit.” John POV. Major spoilers for “The Devil’s Trap”.

I am a bad, bad person. I didn't mean to look, I swear I didn't, but I snuck a peek at the promo pics from the SN season finale (I didn't mean to!) over at emedian and *sighgaspsighgaspsighgaspdie* I'm going to fall over and die.

You scored as Simon Tam. The Doctor. You have a gift for healing that goes beyond education. You took an oath to do no harm, even when your patients have tried to kill you. You are out of place where you are, being used to refined society. However, if you take that stick out of your arse you should be fine.

Gummy Bears

You may be smooshie and taste unnatural, but you're so darn cute.

Gummy bears don't taste unnatural, they taste quite fruity. Which sounds just about right to me. Ha - come and get it, Ackles.

Okay, so after reading a lot of the recaps people have of the Supernatural panel from the Paley Festival, all I have to say is this - if I wasn't obsessed with Jensen Ackles before, I so am now. Twenty four years. I've gone twenty four years, my entire goddamn life, without being reduced to a stupid, babbling, drooling, mindless fangirl over some stupid, egotistical, unreachable actor. Musicians, yes, I've dribbled over my fair share of musicians, and I still do, in fact (are you listening, Colin? Krug? Yeah?) but that's totally different. Musicians are more accessible. When you listen to their music, it's them you're getting to know, personally. Their thoughts, their experiences, their imagination. If you find a particular song beautiful or touching, it's like finding a part of the musician's mind beautiful or touching. But actors - their job is to portray ficitional characters. It's easy to fall in love with a character, but dangerous to become attached to an actor because hey, he could be a jackass bastard in real life. And that's fine by me. Hollywood is filled with assholes (pretentious assholes with no sense of humor, might I add). Yeah, JAckles' cute little "Stop telling me I'm hot because it's embarassing me" act and the whole "I'm shy about my looks so stop paying so much goddamn attention to me!" shtick could be totally fake. But you know what? I don't think it is. I've been playing stalker and hunting down interviews, and I think it's genuine. He seems like a decent guy who finds the attention overwhelming. And it is just so damn adorable that I can't help myself. Damn you, JAckles, for doing this to me. I need to reclaim my brain.

I am, for the first time in a long while, watching the Oscars. I wish I could just piece together the bits with Jon Stewart and cut out the rest. Jon Stewart, I love him. He's smart, sexy, funny...oh my God, he's perfect! lol...Although, George Clooney is being pretty funny right now. Except...stop giving actors and the Academy more credit than they deserve, George. You were doing what when AIDS was only being whispered about? You were taking up the cause of 'gay cancer', is that what you were doing? BULLSHIT. Ya'll were sitting on your well paid asses and probably had no clue what was going on. Um, anyway. Oh, I guess this means no Desperate Housewives tonight. Or Grey's Anatomy. I am so slow on the uptake. Wait a minute, is Supernatural on again tonight? I need to tape it! It's kinda funny...I taped 'Shadows' on Tuesday, and my tape ran out. So I have two halves of the episode on two different tapes, and it's like, 'Shadows, vol. 1 - Horny Dean' and 'Shadows, vol.2 - Emotional and Bloody Dean'. I need it all together, so oh, no - no rerun. Boo. Anyway, getting back to Jon Stewart...he is SO CUTE! LOVE HIM! He looks so snazzy tonight. Laugh harder, people, laugh harder! He's funny, goddamn it. Do you just not get his jokes? Is it just me, or is this awards ceremony a lot more lighthearted than usual? Oooo! I just watched the Corpse Bride last night, it was amazing. And Wallace and Gromit! I loooove those boys. There are so many people I know that have never even heard of Wallace and Gromit, and that's just so wrong. Their three shorts are just absolute brilliance. It makes me wish that I had decided to do something more creative for a living. Don't get me wrong, I love immunology, but making puppets looks like so much damn fun.

Continuing on the Supernatural line - I was reading some of the LJ recaps people over at the TWoP board have of the Supernatural panel at the Paley festival, and can I just say that I am so freaking jealous of the people who got to go? Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki sound like they are an absolute hoot. They seem like they get along really well and are both really funny - if I had to work around those two guys, I'd never get any work done. Not because they're both amazingly beautiful, but because they're funny. Yeah, who am I kidding. Anyway, JA seems like he's so shy about publicity, which is just absolutely adorable. Could I get any more fan-girly? It's embarassing. But so worth it.

So...writing introductory posts is so awkward. So forget all that, and let me just say that I will be using this little corner of the internet to blather on at will about my life as a TV bum. And we are going to start with...
VH1! I love this station. Why? Because of things like the 'America's Next Top Model' marathon. I am weirdly fascinated by this show. I technically should despise it - it promotes superficiality (what could possibly be a more superficial profession than modeling?) and perpetuates America's occupation with being thin and picture-perfect. Granted, I feel like the show (and Tyra) make an effort to focus more on personality and acceptance of different body types. However, I've also noticed as seasons have gone on that they've sort of phased out the token overweight girl. Oh well. I was pleased to see that the next season will include several Asian girls. I'll have to see how they behave (I really hope they're not the stupid flaky type) but still, way to represent, ladies! Anyway, I already know how this season ends, so I guess watching the marathon is like reading a book when I already know how it ends. It's entertaining though, and Lisa? You crazy!

In other news, the skin on my hands is cracking to itty bitty pieces. They HURT! I hate having to wash my hands so goddamn often! Happily though, I don't have to into lab today. I have decided to take the day off. Not only for the sake of my science, but also for the sake of my sanity. Okay, so I know this has nothing to do with TV, but whatever. I've been in John's lab for about a year now, including my rotation. I've worked my ass off, and we're thinking about putting a manuscript together. Which is not too bad, considering I haven't even been working on this project for a year. But I have lab meeting on Friday, and my GOD. I still have so much freaking work to do! I have literally been working non-stop since the end of January, and if all this work is required just for one paper, I am NEVER GOING TO GRADUATE. I'm not sure how much I need to do for my thesis, but I'm thinking that at this rate, I'm never going to be done. ARGH. Hopefully I'm wrong.
